My Story

Growing up in Trinidad & Tobago, I was fortunate to have easy access to the outdoors. As a high school student, geography first got me thinking about the natural processes taking place around me and how they functioned to shape the world I saw.

I’m indebted to Black women for sparking my interest in geology: my high school geography teacher who introduced me to geoscience careers and a geologist who described her work in the energy industry with such passion that I was convinced then of my future career.

Along the way I’ve seen some fantastic places and met some great people. My wife and I wed while I worked on my master’s at Baylor University and we welcomed our son during the second year of my doctorate at Texas A&M.

In my free time I enjoy reading (Sci-Fi, fantasy, West Indian Literature), taking road trips (my wife loves these a lot more than I do), watching movies (it’s always a good time to re-watch Lord of the Rings), and scuba diving.
